Christmas is thought to be a wholly Christian holiday. Evergreen trees, mistletoe, holly, gift giving and candle light vigils mark one of the most hallowed days in all of Christendom. Churches prepare to celebrate the Season with plays about the First Christmas; starring the children of the congregation. The sanctuaries are adorned with poinsettias, wreaths and angels while rehearsals for carolers are arranged. Throughout the land the cry goes forth: "Keep Christ in Christmas." But the question is: WAS Christ ever in Christmas in the first place? The day chosen to celebrate the Birth of the Son of God (December 25th) is the date of the Winter Solstice and was in ancient times known as the Roman Saturnalia. Saturn is the Roman name for the sun god. In Grecian mythology he is called Apollo and in Egyptian religion he is known as Horus. Worship of the sun god was prevalent in ALL of the ancient belief systems, and the same trappings that anyone would now associate with the Birth of Christ, were integral in the rites honoring the reincarnated sun god! When Constantine became supreme ruler of the Roman Empire, he opened the door for the pagan rites and rituals of his paganistic society to inflitrate the Christian Church. It was from this mix that the Roman Catholic Church was formed! In the forefront of all of these ancient religions was the worship of the goddess. In their efforts to meld all of the beliefs into one popular system, the religious leaders of the day choose to impart the woman that gave birth to Christ with all of the characteristics of the pagan goddess. She was called:
These are EXACTLY the same titles given to Mary, the young hebrew maid that gave birth to the Lord Jesus. However, the Mary of the Bible IS NOT the Virgin Mother of the Roman Catholic Church! To keep the ancient traditions of sun god and goddess worship in place so the people would be more comfortable with Constantine's form of Christianity, a "Jesus band-aid" was placed over the old rites and rituals. To tighten the noose of compromise, the names of people associated with Christ in the Bible were given to the old gods. The goddess and child became Mary and the baby Jesus, the statue of Apollo became the Apostle Peter, etc etc. It is from the earth worshipping rituals of Wicca and Celtic witchcraft that we get the decorated evergreen (Christmas) tree and that jolly old elf Santa Claus - known in Wicca as the Oak King. During the Season, evergreen trees are elaborately decorated with completely demonic symbols! The tree itself in the ancient practices represented the reincarnated sun god. It is adorned with shiny orbs symbolizing the sun and the moon. The moon is the symbols for the goddess. Ands so forth and so forth! Nowhere in scripture (Old or New Testament) are the Children of God EVER encouraged to practice this ritual. The Truth is: ANYONE and EVERYONE that follows the LORD is warned NOT TO participate in the custom of erecting and decorating a tree!!!!!
"Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the workman, with the ax. They deck it with silver and gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not." Jeremiah 10:2-4 KJV Also taken from the ancient practices of sun god worship is the ritual known around the world as the Mass. In Babylon, the priests of the sun god would recite prayers and incantations over a goblet of wine and small unleavened wafers shaped like the sun. It was believed that the bread and wine would become the literal flesh and blood of their god! This is EXACTLY the same practice that goes on in every Catholic Church throughout the world! It is Roman Law that after a priest recites the prayers over the wafer and the wine - they become the ACTUAL body and blood of Jesus Christ. Now called the Eucharist, the bread and wine are to be WORSHIPPED AS GOD!!
"My children, kneel before your God in the Eucharist." As quoted in "Blinded by the Sun", p. 93 The 1980 instuction concerning bowing before the Eucharist, approved by Pope John Paul II "Inaestimable Donum" states: "When the faithful communicate kneeling, no other sign of reverence towards the Blessed Sacrament is required, since kneeling itself is a sign of adoration." An example of "Eucharistic" worship; complete with the evergreen representations of the reincarnated sun god. In the center of that table is a monstrance. When the bread is turned into God, it must be placed in this "holy" recepticle.
Pope John Paul II bowing before his god!!! The Catholic ritual of the mass is not the same as Communion as practiced in many non-Catholic churches and the difference had a great deal to do with the Protestant Reformation that occured some 700 years ago. True Christians held to the biblical standard that the bread and wine were symbols, and not the actual body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. "...do this in rememberance of me." Luke 22:19 KJV Many of those that stood fast in the Truth of God's Word concerning the Mass payed with their lives! Murdered by popes, prelates and priests because they adhered to the Bible and not the religious traditions of man. Another influence from the Roman system of religion is the "Christ" of Catholicism. Continually portrayed as suffering on the cross, they deny the victory that Jesus accomplished over death and the grave.
By doing so, the Catholic heirarchy places greater emphasis on salvation by the works of man, rather than the grace of God through Christ. "For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man skhold boast." Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV Thereby making the "Jesus" of Cathoilicism a false Christ! "For if he that cometh precheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well with him." 2 Corinthians 11:4 KJV Also worth noting is that common greetings in Wicca and Celtic witchcraft are "Merry Meet" and "Blessed be". Is it really coincidence that "Merry Christmas" or "Have a Blessed Christmas" resemble the very same sayings as those that practice witchcraft? Or that "Merry Christmas" can be separated into three of the major characteristics of the Roman Institution?
It is the resposibility of EVERY person that claims to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, and worships God in spirit and in truth - to make the decision and commitment to adhere to the entire Word of God. No matter how you sugar coat it, or make excuses for celebrating "the Season", Christmas IS NOT, nor can ever be - Christian! The celebration of Christmas in light of scripture is heresy! "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."
